name: Shrapnel
age: 4
gender: Male
eye color: Silvery blue. Can sometimes seem completely silver at times.
coat color: Pitch Black with a silver sheen
height: 42 inches
weight: 157 inches
scars/markings/anything else: Mini scars up and down his legs. One on his shoulder.
health: Perfect
personality: Shrapnel has a unique and rather odd personality to some. He can be so silent and resilient one moment and bubbly and talkative the next. To strangers you only see the quiet and aloof side of him. Become his friend however and he will slowly warm up to you and you will see his playful and social nature. He may seem rude at first, but only because of his deep distrust in others. Going through so much in his life he's learned to be cautious, it's whats kept him alive throughout his life. He takes risks a lot and can be quite the dare devil at times. He can be a rather good strategist though when it comes to battles. He is courageous and has a good sense of justice yet he isn't always smart. He's also got a lot of wisdom that he uses in most situations. He normally isn't one to jump into a fight without knowing what he's getting in to. He doesn't believe in backing out a fight, even if he has no hope of winning it. Giving up just isn't a part of his vocabulary. At all. He has a major hate for humans though, or anything associated with humans for that matter. But if you can get past his trust issues then you'll soon find out he can be a very loyal and trustworthy friend indeed.
history: (Forgive me if this seems odd. This was when I first made his bio over two years ago)
The young mother nuzzled the three pups gently. The wind howled outside the small but warm compound that contained them so securely. The faint scent of human lingered in the air but it did not worry the white female that looked at her pups so tenderly. She looked at each pup, comparing and contrasting them. She looked as a pitch black little pup forced his way through his two siblings to get to her stomach. The other two whimpered in protest. Two males and one female. The female being of a brown and white coat and rather small was the last to her stomach. The other male, being blueish black with white stripes, tried to force his bigger brother to get to a warmer spot, but without prevail. She touched first the black pup with her nose and whispered "Shrapnel" before moving to the other male "Sani" moving to the female she licked her last pup and whispered "Kurunai" before her head popped up, ears pricked at the sound of one of the humans coming in the compound to set food down. She let out a low growl but did not get up from her pups. She was afraid to leave them. The man studied the pups with great interest before leaving, and the mother relaxed and eventually drifted off into a deep sleep feeling very tired. Although when she awakened, her pups were gone.
By the time Shrapnel's eyes opened her had to memory of his mother other than the smell of her warm milk and the feel of her heartbeat. The humans hands were taking over his memories. At first he was scared and bit their hands, but he soon got accustomed to it though. They looked...... strange and he didn't understand them at all. Sani and Kurunai were his only real company most of the time and they played with each other in a small pen often while every two hours they were fed milk from a bottle.
Four months of age Shrapnel was already promising to be a big wolf. He was already outgrowing his siblings, a head taller than Sani and over a head taller than Kurunai.
Six months of age and the mischievous pup soon learned the ways of heartbreak and loss. The humans decided the pups were getting big enough and they were separated. Kurunai and Sani were sent into the wild to adjust with a wolf pack that had settled 30 miles from the compound. Intrigued by Shrapnel they kept him around and gave him the name "Star Shadow, otherwise known as Shadow. He met a German Shepherd whose name was Renji. They soon became friends and it somewhat made up for the disappearance of his siblings.
Nine months and Shrapnel was already bigger than any pup his age. The humans studied him and tested on him occasionally, checking out his genes and sometimes testing chemicals on him. He was getting tired of the humans though, he wanted adventure. Until they began testing on his friend. After that all he could think of was one word. Freedom. The humans were relentless and merciless with the tests on Renji. They mixed his DNA and chromosomes with that of a lions and soon Renji took on the traits of a lion and a German Shepherd. First in size, then in looks such as the mane and tail and coat color. Appearance wasn't the only trait he gained. The dog also gained the physical traits and strength of a lion too. Soon after Renji's most recent testing Shrapnel was worried they were going to do the same. Renji was tired of the constant testing and pain they put him through and finally lost it; his sanity gone. The creature attacked the humans that were preparing to test on him yet again, killing them with swift bites then he burst through doors slowly making his way to freedom. During the confusion Shrapnel managed to work his way out of the room they had put him in and soon caught up with Renji. Both planned on escaping but Renji got hit with tranquilizers. Shrapnel stopped, tempted to stay with his friend "I'll come back, I promise." he told his friend before he passed out. Shrapnel ran, clearing the short barbed wire fence and off into the wild.
Surviving in the wilderness was becoming extremely difficult for Shrapnel. There was no one left to care for him and the pampering by the humans hadn't made it any easier. Having no one though he soon learned the art of stealing. He became a rather crafty thief and was able to make quick getaways because of his long legs and lean figure. He got into many fights though because of his thievery, hence the many scars that ran up his body. Only once did he try to steal from a bear and never again will he. Shrapnel soon learned to hunt for himself after months of practice. Still growing after the age of 12 months he wasn't even full grown yet. Soon he was able to take down small deer and smaller animals as well.
At the age of a year and four months he finally found a pack and settled down with them. At first they were wary of the young wolf but soon grew to love him. A month later Shrapnel was appointed the rank of Lead Guard due to his fighting skill and his sharp senses. Living on his own had been really beneficial to the pup. Tragedy struck a few months later. Shrapnel was now a year and eight months and almost reaching his full height. Patrolling the territory like he always did he scanned the area and perked his ears when he head a rumbling noise. Spotting humans in their jeeps he growled lowly and raced back to the pack but only to find them dead. All had been shot and killed and lay in a bloody mess on the forest floor. Crying out in dismay he padded over to his beloved Alpha and mourned for the death of the pack before fleeing as the humans came to collect their prizes.
Leaving pack life once again Shrapnel was now more wary. He found it hard to make friends and he didn't join a pack again for fear that tragedy might find him once again and take away anyone he might hold dear to him. Trust became an issue as well and Shrapnel became a very lonely wolf, relying only on himself for guidance and survival.
At the age of three Shrapnel found yet another pack to join. The pack accepted him eagerly but for the wrong reasons. The Alpha himself was conquering nearby packs and expanding his empire and his pack members were his slaves. Anyone who dared go against him were found dead the next day. Shrapnel stayed and soon found he enjoyed the fighting. Shrapnel's battle scars accumulated but with that his fighting skills improved too. He soon grew tired of the constant fighting and turned on the Alpha. By that time Shrapnel had grew out of his lean and wiry figure into a muscular and long legged full grown wolf. The fight was a long one but Shrapnel managed to kill the Alpha, but with great consequences. Shrapnel barely escaped with his wounds, seeing Shrapnel as young and unfit to lead the pack chased him away and soon disbanded and Shrapnel found himself alone once again.
At the age of five Shrapnel entered the territory of three different packs. Two rivals and one trying to keep the peace. Deciding to stay a loner he watched the surroundings around him and studied them carefully. Not finding one to his liking he forgot about joining one and decided to find other loners and make his own pack. Coming across other lone wolves in the area he became friends with a wolf named Zero and soon with others such as Inga, An alpha of the neutral pack, Skyfire, and Darkdeath. Zero decided to make her own pack and Shrapnel willingly joined becoming the Co-Alpha of the pack. Times became rough and peace didn't last long. Rival wolves, hunters, and rogues were many of the battles that the packs faced but nothing chased Shrapnel away for once. Shrapnel found his siblings as well and they joined Zero's pack with him and all lived peacefully for the time being. He was forced to leave though and make his own way once more when the packs disbanded.
